About Dr. Donna Hedges, Assistant Dean, Galen College of Nursing-San Antonio, Texas, USA
Dr. Donna Hedges began her nursing career in 1981. She obtained her BSN in 1994, an MBA in 1999, an MSN in 2010, and a PhD in 2015. Over the past 39 years, Dr. Hedges has held positions in various nursing specialties including medical surgical, surgical intensive care, public health, and in private medical offices. She has over 25 years of experience in progressive leadership positions in the acute healthcare setting. For the past 11 years, Dr. Hedges has been teaching on the associate’s and bachelor’s degree level and currently teaches leadership and management at Texas Lutheran University and Schreiner University. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the American Nurses Association, the National League for Nursing, the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing, the Transcultural Nursing Society, and the Association for Holistic Nursing. She serves as an NLN Ambassador and as chair of the NLN Scholarship Foundation Awards. Dr. Hedges is the Southwest Regional Director for the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing. She also serves as a manuscript reviewer and contributed three chapters in the new book, The Successful Nurse Faculty Member: Tools of the Trade (2020). Dr. Hedges lives in San Antonio, Texas with her husband and six Australian Shepherds.
