About Michael Retsky, PhD

Michael Retsky (Ph.D. in Physics from University of Chicago) made a career change from experimental physics to cancer research thirty-five years ago. His Ph.D. thesis project was to build a 100 kV electron microscope that could resolve single atoms. His main contribution to the microscope technology was to build power supplies for the high voltage and magnetic lenses that were stable to 1 part per million per hour. He worked as a scientist at Hewlett Packard in Colorado Springs for 10 years. He was Prof of Biology at the University of Colorado and Visiting Prof in the Department of Medical Oncology at Univ. of Texas-San Antonio. He has four patents pending for the treatment of cancer. He was on Judah Folkman’s staff at Harvard Medical School for 12 years. Retsky edited a Springer-Nature book on breast cancer published in July 2017. After the diagnosis of stage IIIc colon cancer in 1994, he was the first person to use what is now called metronomic adjuvant chemotherapy. He is a founder and for 10 years was on the Board of Directors of the Colon Cancer Alliance. He has published more than 90 papers in physics and cancer that have been cited 2600 times.
